Yep, we took it on the road! The Jocelyn Farquhar Art Show in Atenas was so successful, we decided others should have the opportunity to enjoy this unique artist’s work.
We were fortunate to hold the show at El Sueño de Mariana in Nosara, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
The elegant home in the peaceful tropical setting lent itself to the tropical colors of Jocelyn’s work, and created a magical setting for the unique birds and trees for which she is famous. We were warmly welcomed by the owners of the palatial home, Micki and Don Savage, and the event was attended by thirty of their loyal friends and neighbors. In addition, we were blessed with visitors from California – Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Mullins and friends from San Francisco.
Tyler is the CEO of MarchingOrder, a software company that provides the world’s leading technological support for commencement exercises at colleges and universities. Okay, okay, I sound like a commercial. Can’t help it- I am the proud mother! And I claim bragging rights not only over him, but his beautiful wife, Colette, and the rest of the entourage – Marin, Eli, and Joe – a stellar group of young adults.
Friends and family supported Jocelyn’s Art Show – some traveling for hours over the dusty, dirt roads of Guanacaste. They say the road will be paved soon – been hearing that for years, but hey, once you get there, it is worth the effort. Nosara has recently been recognized as one of the top vacation destinations in the world. In addition to the pristine natural beaches, the world-famous Nosara Yoga Institute has been touted as one of the best places to get yoga-instructor training. Atenas’s very own Leah MacLauchlan was trained there. She and her husband, Jim, attended the event as they just happened to be in Nosara for a few days. I’m hoping she will conduct a yoga retreat at “El Sueño de Mariana” some time in the near future.
For me, it was a joy to see old friends meeting my new friends from Atenas. The camaraderie, the festive atmosphere combined with the lush tropical setting overlooking the sparkling Pacific ocean brought a happy, peaceful feeling and warmed my soul.
I am pleased to say the event was a success with Jocelyn selling many pieces of art, and all of us enjoying the journey together. And where to next? The team is ready to take it back on the road! Contact me if you would like to host the next show!
